New Year, New Blog

Hey everyone!
Tabitha here! I barely wrote anything in 2014, but the biggest thing that happened was marrying my best friend on December 27!
I'm changing the blog up a little to include the adventures that Brandon and I share together in the next year. Stay tuned for our 2015 plans and goals!

Like a Broken Vessel- Elder Jeffrey R Holland

The Apostle Peter wrote that disciples of Jesus Christ are to have “compassion one of another.”1 In that spirit I wish to speak to those who suffer from some form of mental illness or emotional disorder, whether those afflictions be slight or severe, of brief duration or persistent over a lifetime. We sense the complexity of such matters when we hear professionals speak of neuroses and psychoses, of genetic predispositions and chromosome defects, of bipolarity, paranoia, and schizophrenia. However bewildering this all may be, these afflictions are some of the realities of mortal life, and there should be no more shame in acknowledging them than in acknowledging a battle with high blood pressure or the sudden appearance of a malignant tumor.

Lead, Kindly Light

Okay, ever since hearing Elder Holland`s talk about depresión in General Conference, I have really wanted to write this post. Before I start, I am going to mention very personal thoughts, feelings, And experiences. I do not write to be judged or criticized. I am not a psycho and I am not suicidal. And if I misspell words, it is because I am used to writing in Spanish. Experiencing depression in ANY form does NOT in any way make someone weak, horrible, a sinner, or that their testimony is any less. I realize that I still have much to work on, that the battle is never over, but I want to talk about how my knowledge of the Gospel And Atonement of Jesus Christ have helped me in my battle with depresión.

Amazing poem by my sister :-)

God's Love (Eternal Worth)
By: Sister Denali J. Lathrop

What is a woman's role?
Where does her heart lie?
How does she love everyone?
How can she accomplish all that she does?
Who does she have
working on her side?

The Father loves woman.
The Father knows her roles.
He watches over woman,
Helps her towards her goals.
He shares her tears, her sorrows.
He feels her joy.
He knows her heart.
Through Him she conquers fears.
He offers guide and counsel-
Gives her a companion through man.

How do women fight through trials?
How do women make new friends?
Where do women find their strength?
Who do women turn to-
in their time of need?

God is gracious.
God is love.
God made woman-
using mounds of love.
God knew that woman's love and virtue
would lead the world-
lead His children back to Him.
God knew woman's hearts would break.
God knew of woman's love.
God knew they would need someone-
someone to turn to-
someone who knew.

How do women smile through tears?
How do women love everyone-
even when their hearts are broken?
Why does God let women suffer?
Does He not know their worth?

He does know!
He knows their feelings.
He loves them-
and He wants them to see-
their ETERNAL worth.
He sends angels
to watch them, to love them.
The little children on their knees.
He sends man-
to love and protect woman-
to work together.

He sent Christ
to take all our sins.
To help us on our way.
Christ knows our worst-
He knows our best.
Christ knows what you go through.
Turn to Him-
He's waiting.
The Father and the Son
wait with open arms.

How do women show love?
How do women help others grow?
Why do women not see their potential?
How can we help them to know?

Love as God does.
As Christ did on this earth.
Be a disciple,
show EVERYONE their worth.
Live and serve-
to help others.
Love as Christ showed-
so they can know their worth.

Tender Mercies/ Tiernas Misericordias

Since General Conference, I keep getting impressions to write more on my blog, but I must stop being such a slacker!
This week, I have been thinking a lot about gratitude. I am so blessed, And most of the time, I fail to recognize the gifts God has given me. I mean, you have the obvious things such as food, shelter, job, Family, friends, health, And the gospel, but there are also the small, simple beauties of life.  I give y`all a few examples from this week:
Coming home from church to a decorated dolor
Home teachers who make you muffins
Little kids who already sense that the temple is a special place
Awesome poem written by my sister
Remembering moments from my Mission
Parents send me a cute calendar
Children`s laughter
Being given the opportunity to lead the music in church
And many more.....
I just realized that  I need to be more grateful. In church, one of the speakers told a story of writing a thank- you note every day for a year. I want to be more grateful And express my gratitud better. I have been so blessed but too blind to see just how blessed I am. I will try to write more on here too :-)

Mothers and Fathers- English

Since we celebrate Mothers' Day in May and Fathers' Day in June, I've been thinking about parents, their responsibilities, and how all of us have the responsibility to help God's children. I was reading an article from my church about mothers. It may be about mothers, but many of the principles can apply to each of us, no matter where we are in life: young or old, male or female, single or married, with or without children.
Sometimes, if we are unmarried for don't hace children, we may be confused, sad, or we may even feel ok and confident that God loves us. That right there is the key to happiness: knowing that God loves you and is mindful of you. He gives us experiences to help us learn and grow. In the article, I was reading about the opportunities God has given us to serve others. Each one of us has special gifts, talents , and abilities that can be used for good. We this privilege and responsibility to serve, to lift others up, and to become more like the Savior, Jesus Christ. And as we serve, we can obtain new skills that will help us in the future. We should always serve, help, grow, and most importantly, love as Jesus loves. Charity is the pure love of Christ.

I'm still working on this, on serving, on being patient with the Lord's timetable, but I learn and grow with everyday. I try to align my will with that of the Lord. Only then am I able to find true happiness.
Here is the link to the article. Read it, even if you're a guy! Its awesome!

I love Jesucristo!

I chose to write in Spanish because it's easier for me. I know that Jesus Christ My Savior and Redeemer. I know that He loves us, in spite of our sins and weaknesses. He suffered and died for us. He knows and loves Us perfectly. I know that all things are possible through Jesús Christ and His Infinite Atonement. His grace is sufficient; it's up to us to accept it.
Yesterday as I sat in sacrament meeting, I kept thinking about the Savior. I was able to feel a greater measure of His pure love and I knew that He loves me just the way I am. Later I will tell you how awesome my week was and how I felt God's love. I know that what I have said is true and I know that my Redeemer lives.

stay tuned..

In upcoming posts I'm going to talk about some more very important relationships: with God and Family. And more about my big life changes.... Stay tuned!

Estad atentos!

Best relationship ever!

well darling blog I am the most wonderful relationship....with myself! These past few months I really just been trying to get to know myself better and  love myself for who I am. I really do love myself with all my flaws and insecurities. I'm not a perfect person but I know that my Father lo es me and that's good enough for me; if someone so powerful can love someone like me I'm not so bad afterall. like all those silly little things don't matter anymore I don't care how much I weigh if I have a zit on my face all that matters is what's inside and I'm working on my heart to fill it with love to show that love to everyone and to be more like my Father and to show the world how much I really care. I'm trying to be a better person to be more patient more loving I'm more comfortable with who I am and I know what I'm working on, being more patient with myself, working on my problems because I know what I'm doing, the path I'm on. And God will help me accomplish it. He will never leave me alone.

Él nunca me va a dejar sola. Nunca.

Peace

So I definitely am in love with Kate Middleton's wedding dress. I might have to find one like that when I get married in a million years. I loved how the whole wedding was just like a fairytale. Absolutely gorgeous.
I probably won't blog again before I leave for the mission, so I guess this is goodbye for now. See ya in 18 months!

I know.....

I know I am a daughter of God and that He loves me. He loves His children. I know that He has a plan for my life. This plan will help me realize and achieve my full potential. I know that I can live with God again someday. I know that Jesus loves me so much. I know that He died so that everyone can have the chance to repent of sins and to change their lives. I know that by following His example, I can be happy and fulfill the requirements to return to Father. I know the Atonement is real; it has changed my life and made me want to be a better person. I know the Holy Ghost brings comfort, warnings, and revelation. Through the Holy Ghost, I receive very REAL communication from my Heavenly Father. I know that the scriptures show the way to go and are a guidebook for all of life's problems. I know that the prophets speak the word of God; they let people know God's will for His children. I know that all the prophets have been called of God to be His witnesses. I know that the gospel was restored through Joseph Smith, and that He was truly called of God. I know that priesthood power is real; I have experienced the blessings of having it in my life. I know the temple is the house of God, and that the ordinances therein prepare us for the challenges we may face and they also prepare us to meet God. I know everyone is accountable for their own choices, not the choices of others. I know that repentance gives people a chance to change. I know that obedience to the commandments brings blessings. I know that paying an honest tithe brings blessings, as well as fasting properly. I know that families can be together forever. I know this life is not the end. I know that someday, Christ will return to the Earth. I know that all prophecies will be fulfilled. I know that faith in Christ brings strength in times of struggles.
And these are just a few of the things that I know....

He Loves Me!!!!

So last night, Denali and I did a lot of girl talk. I love that girl to death. She gets me; she gets my concerns. She is always able to help me see better ways of looking at situations, and I always run my crazy ideas by her (and of course, she usually talks me out of it.) I am going to miss her so stinkin much while I am on my mission! She always keeps me grounded when I am going crazy.
There is another person who is always there for me, and that is the Savior. He has faith in me, even when I give up on myself. He knows my potential, and He feels my pain. He knows me so well. He cheers me on, especially on my worst days. I'm going to have to rely on Jesus ALOT on my mission. It's definitely going to be tough, and there are probably going to be some days that I'll want to throw in the towel and just come home. But I know that with His help, anything is possible. I just have to remember that when the going gets tough.
Last night, after girl talk, I kept thinking about ways to be a better person. I kept thinking about people I've been mean to, brushed off, or not been as good of a friend to as I could have been. I thought of my friends who are going through trials and just feel crappy. I want to be a better friend, and I'm sure my mission will give me tons of practice with that. I need to be kinder and more charitable. I need to be less judgemental and more compassionate. I need to follow the Savior's example better. I know the Savior can help me as I make these changes; as I try to be more like Him. I know He can help me through the hard times. I know that He lives and loves us. I know that it is all made possible through the Atonement and I am indeed grateful for that.

Packing

I am almost fully packed up! All I have left to pack up is some "regular" clothes and my electronics. All I have left to put in my suitcases is my scriptures and Preach My Gospel. We moved a bunch of stuff into my room that brother had had in storage. That picture illustrates how much of his stuff has invaded my room. He still has about the same amount of boxes stored in his car that he can bring in when he gets back. He will be coming home from his mission at the end of the summer, so I'm getting the room ready for him before I leave. It's hard to believe that I leave in less than a week!

The Last Day

Friday was my last day of work. It was bittersweet. On one hand, I am very excited to be going on a mission and all of the adventures that will come with that endeavor. On the other hand, I am going to miss my "babies" so much! These kids have taught me so much about love and patience in the year and a half I worked at Open Arms. When I first started, I was just shuffled from room to room. I thought I knew a lot because I had taken ECE (Early Childhood Education) Classes.
Boy, I still have lots to learn about kids. Working with youngsters, I learned a lot of things that they I couldn't just absorb from the textbook. Like how to be patient with a child who bites almost every day or pushes the other kids. How to love the hard to love. How to relax even when parents are freaking out. How to entertain kids all day long. How to figure a child's needs based on his/her behavior. How to chill even when I felt like jumping off a cliff.
I'm going to miss these crazy kids....

These are from one of my little boys ;)
